Benefits of a Wood Burning Stove
Jonathan R Richards asked:
The benefits of a wood burning stove have long been appreciated by many people who have had to live through some very tough economic times. Years ago, electricity, the foundation of our life today, was simply not available to most of the rural area homes in America. Consequently, all of the family’s food preparation was done on the top of the wood burning stove. The smaller house was heated, as much possible, by this same piece of equipment. Most families had large wooded lots that provided the wood; which was free for the cutting and carting off. You can be sure that no costly gym membership was needed after cutting and carrying home all those loads of wood
In this day and age of rising energy prices, along with the uncertainty of being able to easily obtain petroleum products, it may be well worth your while to once again consider the wood burning stove. A huge benefit that is derived from obtaining your essential heating needs by this method is the feeling of being self sufficiency. A disruption of the electrical grid on a cold winter’s night will no longer cause you or your family to panic; there will still be life sustaining heat and cooked food available.
Besides the very practical benefits, a wood burning stove imparts a charm to any room. There is nothing like the whole family sitting around together just watching the dancing flames of a roaring fire. Trees, a natural resource, can be replanted very easily. Even the residue left from the burning of logs can be recycled in the garden. Aside from these things, a wood burning stove will add great resale value to your home.
